2020年全国高考延期一个月举行

 

3月31日，教育部官方网站发布《关于2020年全国高考时间安排的公告》：

经党中央、国务院同意，2020年全国普通高等学校招生统一考试（以下简称“高考”）延期一个月举行，考试时间为7月7日至8日。

湖北省、北京市可根据疫情防控情况，研究提出本地区高考时间安排的意见，商教育部同意后及时向社会发布。

The national college entrance exam, or gaokao, will be postponed by one month to July 7-8 due to the novel coronavirus outbreak, the Ministry of Education said on Tuesday.

教育部周二表示，由于新型冠状病毒爆发，高考将推迟一个月举行，考试时间为7月7日至8日。

Because of the epidemic situation, authorities in Hubei province and Beijing can come up with their own suggestions on gaokao dates, which will be published after consulting with the ministry, it said in a notice on Tuesday.

湖北省、北京市可根据疫情防控情况，研究提出本地区高考时间安排的意见，商教育部同意后及时向社会发布。

Wang Hui, Director of the Ministry’s Department of College Students Affairs, said the postponement is mainly to ensure students’ safety and the fairness of the exam.

教育部高校学生司司长王辉表示，推迟高考主要是为了确保学生的安全和考试的公平性。

More than 10.7 million students have signed up to participate in this year’s gaokao, up by 400,000 from last year, Wang said at a news conference.

王辉在新闻发布会上表示，今年报名参加高考的学生超过了1070万，比去年增加了40万。

 

 

 

 

 

印度启用了一条123年前的殖民时期法律

 

100多年前的法律通常很过时，但印度最近却启用了一条123年前的殖民时期法律，以遏制新冠病毒。

这条法律本是当初英国殖民政府用来遏制黑死病传播的，而现在印度政府认为它对遏制新冠很有用。

它让地方政府获得了一些列权力，以进行严格的防疫措施。

Colonial-era laws are usually outdated pieces of legislation, often out of tune with current realities. But India has fallen back on using a 123-year-old British colonial-era law, first implemented in 1897 to control the spread of bubonic plague, to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

殖民时期的法律通常都是立法中的陈旧古董，大多数时候都和现今的情况不兼容。但印度为了遏制新冠病毒的传播已经回头用一条123年前英国殖民时期的法律了，这条法律在1897年最早实施以控制黑死病的传播。

The government has asked states to enforce the Epidemic Diseases Act 1897 to help the authorities stem the outbreak of Covid-19 in India and better implement various health advisories.

政府要求各州开始推行1897传染病法案，以便帮助有关部门阻止新冠病毒爆发，并使他们能更好地推行各个健康公告。

The Act gives authorities wide powers to curb the spread of “dangerous epidemic diseases”, including setting up containment areas and preventing people from entering or leaving containment facilities.

Doctors worldwide are sounding the alarm: Otherwise asymptomatic carriers of COVID-19 often lose their sense of smell or taste and are likely spreading the virus.

“This is a sign of infection and anyone who develops loss of sense of smell should self-isolate,” Claire Hopkins, the president of the British Rhinological Society, told The New York Times. “It could contribute to slowing transmission and save lives.”

亚马逊生意火爆却没有人送货

Over the weekend Amazon customers took to social media to complain that items they recently ordered were now showing delivery dates stretching all the way out to April 21 - despite being listed as being in stock and available via Amazon Prime delivery, which normally sees most customers getting their items in two to three days.
