欧美高校呼吁在港交换生“撤人”

连日以来,乱港暴徒的破坏行为从街头蔓延至大学校园,香港多所大学已沦为黑衣暴徒的肆虐之地,使得来港求学的学生们人心惶惶。
多所欧美高校已经坐不住了,纷纷呼吁自己国家的在港交换生“赶紧撤”,有的甚至表示:快走快走!路费咱学校出……
14日,有英国大学向学生发送电子邮件,召唤在港交换生立刻回国。
Exchange students currently studying in Hong Kong have been called back to the UK by their university over fears for their safety.
BBC报道称,近日,由于担忧在港英国交换生人身安全,学校召唤他们回国。
Students from the University of Warwick have been “strongly urged” to return as “it is no longer appropriate” for them to remain, its student newspaper said. The cost of flights will be reimbursed, it said.
英国华威大学(University of Warwick)学生报纸《The Boar》刊文称,“强烈呼吁”这些学生回国,他们“不再适合留下”。该校还称,将补偿这些交换生返程的航班费用。
Student newspaper The Boar, which first broke the news, said an email sent to students stated the university had been “closely monitoring the developing situation in Hong Kong” and it had “reached the decision... that it is no longer appropriate for our students to remain”. “Warwick is now strongly urging you to curtail your period of study or work placement abroad and to return to the UK, or wherever you are usually resident, as soon as possible,” the email continued.
BBC报道称,根据《The Boar》的说法,华威大学校方在发给学生的一封电子邮件中说,校方一直在“密切注意香港的形势发展”,“并已做出决定……(形势)已不再适合我们的学生继续留下”,“华威大学强烈敦促您减少在国外的学习或工作时间,尽快回到英国或您常居的任何地方”。
In a statement, the university said: “Like several other UK universities we are contacting Warwick students and staff in Hong Kong and offering them the opportunity to return to the UK and are advising them to do so.” The University of Nottingham said it had also offered flights home to any students concerned about their safety.
此外,华威大学在一份声明中指出,“与其他几所英国大学一样,我们正与华威大学的学生,以及在港的教职工联系,并为他们提供返回英国的机会,与此同时,我们也建议他们这么做。”英国诺丁汉大学也表示,校方已向学生提供回家的机票。

截至14日,英国华威大学、诺丁汉大学、阿伯丁大学、南安普顿大学、谢菲尔德大学和爱丁堡大学6所大学校方证实,他们已经协助在港本校学生“尽快”撤离,部分学校承诺将承担交通费用。
报道称,召回学生发生在香港教育局宣布停课之际。14日,香港教育局表示,由于堵路及阻碍交通服务等情况持续且范围广泛,基于安全考虑,全港学校,包括幼稚园、小学、中学及特殊学校,15日至17日继续停课。稍早前,香港教育局已宣布14日全港学校停课。
19日,香港教育局宣布,因应路面及交通情况逐步回稳,全港小学、中学及部分特殊学校20日恢复上课。
事实上,受示威活动影响的外国大学留学生远不止来自上述几所。
Georgetown University’s student-run newspaper, The Hoya, announced in a tweet last Thursday that students studying in Hong Kong this semester would be coming home due to protests in the territory.
报道中提到,美国乔治城大学由学生主办的报纸《The Hoya》当地时间14日在推特上宣布,鉴于香港高校的示威活动,本学期正在香港学习的学生将返回美国。
“Georgetown University’s study abroad programs in Hong Kong have been canceled for the remainder of the semester because of protests in the region,” the tweet reads. “Students are working to leave in the coming days, according to three Georgetown students on the programs.”

Meghan Dubyak, associate vice president for strategic communications for Georgetown University, told USA TODAY in an email that Georgetown students are studying at two universities in Hong Kong. She confirmed that classes for those students would be ending early.

Student Elina Neverdal Hjoennevaag told Norwegian broadcaster NRK last Wednesday that they are being sent to a hotel, adding, “I don’t really know what is happening. I must pack.” She said she and several other exchange students were told to gather their belongings and move away from the university. She also said, “people walked out with their suitcases. Many cried.”

The Norwegian Foreign Ministry says on its website that “students should continuously evaluate campus safety if teaching is interrupted due to protests.” The Technical University of Denmark urged its 36 students in Hong Kong to pack up and return home.

Leading colleges in Utrecht, Amsterdam, Leiden, Delft, Rotterdam and elsewhere are actively seeking to repatriate almost 300 Dutch nationals studying in Hong Kong.

“The situation is worrying, it has degenerated and is unpredictable,” University of Amsterdam spokeswoman Annelies van Dijk told AFP. “The clashes are getting close to campuses. Students no longer feel safe there and their families are worried, ” she added.

Erasmus university in Rotterdam advised its 74 students in Hong Kong to leave, saying in a statement it “is actively supporting the students concerned to organise a swift departure.”

而就在香港违法暴力行动不断升级之时,美国国会又将黑手伸向香港事务,粗暴干涉中国内政。11月19日,美国国会参议院通过所谓“2019年香港人权与民主法案”, 公然插手香港事务,粗暴干涉中国内政。
据报道,该法案要求美国国务院每年就“香港事务”按时向国会汇报,赋权美国政府进行相应制裁。
20日上午,全国人大外事委员会、全国政协外事委员会、外交部、国务院港澳办、香港中联办、外交部驻港公署及香港特区政府发表声明,强烈谴责美方。
