中国式“虎妈狼爸”，你怎么看？

最近，英国第四频道（Channel 4）播出的一档智力竞赛类的综艺很火。

这档节目叫《天才儿童》（Child Genius），其实从2013年起已经播出六季了。一群高智商的小孩子进行智力比拼，争夺“Child Genius”（天才儿童）的称号。

在最新一季中，一位12岁的华裔小男孩Gar Gun引起了大家的注意。

Maths wizz Gar Jun, 11, from Birmingham, took part in the quarter-finals of the Channel 4 quiz show and wowed judges with his performance in the gruelling science round.

据《每日邮报》网报道，来自伯明翰的11岁华裔少年Gar Jun是位数学小天才，他成功晋级了四分之一决赛。在科学竞赛环节，他的表现让评委惊叹不已。

But despite his 12-point score putting him at the top of the leaderboard his demanding mum Faye said he could do better and told him to “cut out the silly mistakes” .

尽管他以12分的成绩名列榜首，他的母亲 Faye却并不满意，她表示，儿子还可以做的更好，并告诉儿子“别犯愚蠢的错误”。

In the programme Gar Jun revealed how his mum “sometimes lets me have a rest for three minutes” before getting him to crack on with his work again.

在节目里，Gar Jun提到学习时说，母亲“有时只让我休息三分钟”，然后继续学习。

Extolling the virtues of the Chinese educate system mum Faye, who owns a Chinese restaurant, said: “We mark down his mistakes…that is a most important process so we can focus on that problem to improve him.”

Gar Jun的母亲 Faye经营一家中餐厅，她坚信中国的教育方式。在节目组的采访中她表示：“我们会记下他出过的错误……这是个最重要的方法，这样我们才能集中改进他的问题。”

She added: “I think a Child Genius is really a test to prove the Chinese education system can work very well.”

她还说：“我认为《天才儿童》这档节目实际上是个能证明中国式教育很成功的机会。”

Fans were equally shocked when, during previous episode, Gar Jun’s father warned the youngster that his ‘only’ option was to come first.

同样让粉丝们震惊的是，孩子爸爸也同样严格。在先前的节目中，他跟Gar Jun说：你唯一的选择就是得第一名。

Faye said: “I think Gar Jun is a very clever boy, but a genius? That is a very big word. I see a lot of clever kids - it is about how parents direct them.

在妈妈Faye眼里：“Gar Jun是个很聪明的孩子。但是说他是个天才？这词太过了。我见过太多聪明的孩子——关键在于父母如何指引他们。”

“Every single child has potential. I think we have to apply some pressure. Gar Jun is a clever kid who needs to be stretched. If a child has the talent, parents need to play their part in bringing out that talent.”

她还说：“每个孩子都有潜力，我认为我们必须施加一些压力。Gar Jun是个聪明的孩子，他的潜力需要被拉伸。如果孩子有某种天赋，父母就要发挥作用，让这种天赋发挥出来。”

The family applied for Gar Jun to appear on Child Genius. After two tests in London, he gained a slot on the show.

Gar Jun这次参加《天才儿童》节目，是父母为他报名的。经过在伦敦举行的两场竞赛，他就在节目上脱颖而出了。

“He enjoyed the programme,” said Faye, “he really enjoyed it. You should see the pile of book and papers they gave him to study before the show - they actually helped MY education.”

妈妈还表示儿子“很享受这个节目，他真的很喜欢。你该看看在参赛前他们给他的一堆书和资料。这对我的教育的确很有帮助。”

For the “Chinese education” of Gar Jun’s parents, foreign netizens have different opinions... While she won some praise, other viewers blasted her strict regime.

对于Gar Jun父母的“中国式教育”，国外网友们则看法各异……有些人支持，但也有不少人批评这样的教育方式过于严苛。

One tweeted: “Gar Jun’s mum is beyond! Let your children have fun. They are young for such a short time!! Horrible to see him pushed so hard!”

一名推特网友表示：“Gar Jun的妈妈太过了！让你的孩子过的开心点。他们的童年太过短暂！看到他被逼的这么凶真是太可怕了！

”

有网友认为这样的孩子以后会被孤立。
