The next morning the man telephoned the Zoo.
George watched him. He was fascinated.
Then the man went away. George was curious.
第二天早晨男人给动物园打了电话。
乔治看着他，他深深的被吸引了。
然后男人走开了，乔治感觉很好奇。
He wanted to telephone, too.
One, two, three, four, five, six, seven.
What fun!
他也想打电话。1234567。
多有趣啊！
DING-A-LING-A-LING!
GEORGE HAD TELEPHONED THE FIRE STATION!
叮铃铃！
乔治电话打到了消防站！
The firemen rushed to the telephone.
"Hello! Hello!" they said.
But there was no answer.
Then they looked for the signal on the big map that showed where the telephone call had come from.
消防员冲到电话前。
“喂！喂！”他们说。
但是没有人回应。
他们查看了大地图上，
上面的信号显示了电话是从哪打来的。
They didn’t know it was GEORGE.
They thought it was a real fire.
他们不知道是乔治。
他们以为是真的有火灾。
HURRY! HURRY! HURRY!
The firemen jumped on to the fire engines and on to the hook-and-ladders.
快！快！快！
消防员们跳上了救火车跳上了云梯消防车。
Ding-dong-ding-dong. Everyone out of the way!
Hurry! Hurry! Hurry!
叮咚叮咚。所有人让道！
快！快！快！
The firemen rushed into the house.
They opened the door.
NO FIRE! ONLY a naughty little monkey.
消防员冲进了房子，打开了门。
没有着火！只有一只淘气的小猴子。
"Oh, catch him, catch him," they cried.
George tried to run away.
He almost did, but he got caught in the telephone wire, and -
“抓住他，抓住他。”他们喊道。
乔治想逃跑。
他差点就成功了，但是被电话线绊住了，然后——
A thin fireman caught one arm
and a fat fireman caught the other.
一个瘦瘦的消防员和一个胖乎乎的消防员各抓住了他一只胳膊。
"You fooled the Fire Department," they said.
"We will have to shut you up where you can’t do any more harm."
They took him away and shut him up in a prison.
“你戏弄了消防部门，”他们说，
“我们要把你关在一个你不能害人的地方。”
他们把他带走了关进了监狱。
George wanted to get out.
He climbed up to the window to try the bars.
Just then the watchman came in.
乔治想逃出去。
他爬上窗户试图掰开窗栅。
这时看守人进来了。
He got on the wooden bed to catch George.
But the watchman was too big and heavy.
The bed tipped up,the watchman fell over,and, quick as lightning,
George ran out through the door.
他爬到木床上抓乔治。
但是看守人太重了。
床翻了，看门人摔倒了。
然后乔治以闪电般的速度从打开的门跑了出去。
He hurried through the building and out on to the roof.
And then he was lucky to be a monkey.
Out he walked on to the telephone wires.
他快速的穿过建筑物从屋顶逃了出去。
然后很幸运他是只猴子。
他踩着电话线走了出去。
Quickly and quietly over the guard’s head, George walked away.
He was free!
乔治快速地悄悄地从守卫头顶走了出去。
他自由啦！
Down in the street, outside the prison wall, stood a balloon man.
A little girl bought a balloon for her brother.
George watched.
监狱墙外的街上，站着一个卖气球的人。
一个小女孩给她弟弟买了一个气球。
乔治看到了。
He was curious again.
He felt he MUST have a bright red balloon.
He reached over and tried to help himself, but -
他又好奇了。
他觉得他必须得有一个大红色的气球。
他越过墙头想自己去拿，但是——
Instead of one balloon, the whole bunch broke loose.
In an instant the wind whisked them all away and,
with them, went George, holding tight with both hands.
不是一个气球，是整把气球都飞跑了。
马上它们就被风吹走了，
跟它们一起的还有乔治，两只手都紧紧地抓着。
Up, up he sailed, higher and higher.
The houses looked like toy houses and the people like dolls.
George was frightened. He held on very tight.
他一直往上飞啊飞，越来越高。
房子看起来像玩具，人们看起来都像玩偶。
乔治很害怕。他抓的紧紧得。
At first the wind blew in great gusts.
Then it quieted. Finally it stopped blowing all together.
George was very tired.
Down, down he went - bump, on to the top of a traffic light.
刚开始风刮的很大。
后来风小了。最后完全停了。
乔治非常的累。
一直往下掉啊掉啊突然掉在红绿灯上了。
Everyone was surprised. The traffic got all mixed up.
George didn’t know what to do,
and then he heard someone call, "GEORGE!"
He looked down and saw his friend,
the man with the big yellow hat!
人们都很吃惊。交通也拥堵起来。
乔治不知道该怎么办，然后听到有人叫，“乔治！”
他向下望去看到了他的朋友，
戴黄色大帽子的男人！
George was very happy. The man was happy, too.
George slid down the post,
and the man with the big yellow hat put him under his arm.
乔治很开心，男人也很开心。
乔治从杆子上滑下来，
戴黄色大帽子的人把他放在胳膊下面。
Then he paid the balloon man for all the balloons.
And then George and the man climbed into the car,
and at last away they went-
to the ZOO! What a nice place for George to live!
然后他把所有气球的钱都付给了卖气球的人。
然后乔治和男人爬上了汽车。最后他们终于去了——
动物园！适合乔治生活的好地方！
