This is a story about a tortoise.
这是一个关于陆龟的故事。
He had everything a tortoise could want.
他拥有陆龟想要的一切。
He had a lovely log to sit on,
juicy apples to eat
and a very shiny shell.
他有一根可爱的原木可以坐，
多汁的苹果可以吃，
以及一个非常闪亮的龟壳。
But he wasn’t happy.
但是他并不快乐。
All day long, he saw an eagle in the sky.
小陆龟望着天上的雄鹰，就这样看了一整天。
Flying low. Flying high.
只见雄鹰一会儿飞得很低。一会儿飞得很高。
It had golden feathers and great big wings.
它有着金色的羽毛和巨大的翅膀。
“I wish I could fly,” said the tortoise.
“I’ll try.”
陆龟想，“如果我也能飞，那该多好啊！”
“我一定要试试。”
He climbed onto a rock…
jumped into the air…
and flopped onto his belly.
他努力爬上了岩石跳向空中……
然后，他的肚子重重的摔在了地上。
“OOF!”
“好疼啊！”
He climbed up a tree…
jumped into the air…
and landed splat in a puddle.
只见他奋力爬上了一棵树……
再次跳到空中，
只听到啪嗒一声，他掉进了一个水坑里。
He called to the eagle.
他呼唤天空中的雄鹰。
“Will you take me into the sky?
I want to be like you.”
“你能把我带到天上吗？我想和你一样在天上飞。”
“What will you give me?” the eagle replied.
老鹰回答说，“作为交换你能给我什么？”
“You can have my log and my apples.”
“你可以拥有我的原木和苹果。”
“Very well,” said the eagle.
“I will take you into the sky.”
“成交，我会把你带到天上的。”
Up and up the eagle rose… …
up through the clouds to the bright blue sky.
雄鹰越飞越高…………
很快他就穿过云层来到蔚蓝色的天空。
“Hold on!”
雄鹰大喊道“抓紧了！”。
The tortoise looked at the ground.
小陆龟低头看着陆地。
It was a very long way down.
它感觉非常的高，离地面很远。
He felt dizzy.
他感觉头晕了。
“Eagle,” he said. “I don’t like it up here.”
陆龟说道。“雄鹰，我不喜欢待在这里。”
“Please take me back!”
“带我回去吧！”
So the eagle took the tortoise back to the ground.
于是雄鹰只好把小陆龟带回了地面。
“Little tortoise,” said the eagle.
“You have no feathers and no wings.”
雄鹰说，“小陆龟，你没有羽毛也没有翅膀。”
“You’re not made for flying.”
“你不适合飞行。”
“Keep your apples and your log.”
“Be happy.”
“还是留着你的苹果和原木吧，
开心的过自己的生活吧！“
The tortoise smiled.
小陆龟开心的笑了。
He watched the eagle go.
目送雄鹰飞走后。
He ate his apples.
He sat on his log.
他又坐回他的原木上，吃他的苹果。
And he no longer wanted to fly.
他再也不会想学习飞行了。
