烧脑|一本让人捉摸不透的纪实类小说

又是久违的“烧脑时间”！

 

本期必小编要给大家推荐的是一本纪实类的小说，叫做《夜木》（Nightwood），它以极具冲突和哥特散文式的风格独树一帜。

 

Eliot wrote in his introduction that "... it is so good a novel that only sensibilities trained on poetry can wholly appreciate it."

Nightwood follows Robin Vote, who is in constant search of "secure torment". The story begins in Europe, where the false Baron Felix Volkbein is introduced to Robin by Dr. Matthew O'Connor. Felix seeks Robin's hand in marriage in order to emulate traditions of old European nobility, seeking to grant validity to his own fake family name and help Robin feel secure.

《夜木》的故事围绕着罗宾·沃特展开，她始终都在追寻所谓“安全的折磨”。故事从欧洲开始，马修·奥康纳博士把假男爵菲利克斯·沃克拜恩介绍给了罗宾。假男爵希望迎娶罗宾，好效仿欧洲老贵族们的传统，以此给他自己虚假的姓氏正名，并帮罗宾找到所谓的安全感。

在这本小说里，作者以小见大，通过几个人之间辗转的关系和发展，展现了两次世界大战之间的那个时期里，阶级、宗教以及性向之间的分野。在这本小说中，主角的性格中若隐若现展示了作者本人性格的影子，加上剧情让人略有些难懂，就更增添了小说的神秘感，有好些人都因为这份神秘中途放弃，觉得太难了。
