While baby showers aren’t exactly par for the course when you’re part of the British royal family, Meghan Markle, aka the Duchess of Sussex, is about to have her first child with Prince Harry, and it seems as though she is determined to celebrate.
Last month, Meg’s friends threw her a super-swanky baby shower in NYC (think: celebs, private jets, and penthouse suites), and now there are reports that Meghan will be having another party to celebrate Baby Sussex over in the UK.
According to The Mirror, Meghan’s last party spent more than 350,000 pounds (about 3.11 million yuan). Many of Meghan’s biggest friends were there, too, like Amal Clooney and tennis superstar Serena Williams.
But according to The Sun, the party in Britain will be low-key, with only five or six people attending. To everyone’s surprise, Princess Kate will be responsible for this party. And Meghan’s mother is also reported to be on the invited list.
If Kate were to host the party herself, it would be a big step forward for the sisters-in-law. Of course, in addition to the relationship between the two, the question seemed to predominate: would a party in England be as grand as the one in America?
And the answer is pretty obvious, no. This English-style party theme is “low-key”, which is just a private party. After all, as a member of the royal family, it costs taxpayers’ money. And the royals are also the heads of major charitable organizations, so a public display of lavish living is bound to attract heavy criticism from the public. At the same time, the low-key of private life is also highly respected by most members of the British royal family.
Since the Frogmore Cottage, where Harry and Meghan will be staying, has not been renovated, this “baby shower” is likely to be held at Buckingham Palace.
