Once, a man came out to his garden with his turnip seeds and his hoe.
He dug and he delved and he set his seeds in a row.
有一天，一个老爷爷带着萝卜种子，
和一把锄头来到了他的菜地。
他挖地耕地，一排排的撒入了种子。
He cared for his seeds and watered them well,
and the turnip seeds began to…swell…
他好好照看了种子，认真浇水，
然后萝卜种子开始...…隆起。
In a very few days came little green leaves.
They poked and they pushed and they pointed.
The man with the hoe rolled up his sleeves…
在短短几天里就长出了绿叶来，
这些种子开始挤出土壤，
拿着锄头的老爷爷卷起了他的袖子……
He plucked out the weeds and raked off the rubble.
He didn't know there was going to be trouble.
他抠出杂草和碎石，
但并不知道他已惹上了大麻烦。
At last the turnips began to grow.
They got bigger and bigger and bigger.
And the man with the hoe said,
"So…we'll have turnips for breakfast and lunch and for tea.
And it's turnips for supper, too, thanks to me."
最后萝卜开始长出来了，
它们越长越大，越长越大。
那个拿着锄头的老爷爷说：
“所以，我们早餐可以吃萝卜，午餐可以吃萝卜，下午茶可以吃萝卜。
晚餐还可以吃萝卜，真是多亏了我”。
One of the turnips - the best of the lot - began to take over the whole of his plot.
其中的一只萝卜，一只长得最好的萝卜，
开始占据了他全部的菜地。
It grew bigger and bigger every day.
It was huge.
It was vast.
It was…ENORMOUS!
The other poor turnips got out of its way.
每天，这个萝卜都越长越大，越长越大。
变大了，
又变大了，
更加大了...
其他可怜的萝卜纷纷给它让路。
The man was baffled but he kept on hoeing.
And the ENORMOUS turnip kept on growing.
老爷爷开始困惑了，但他坚持锄地。
然后那只巨大的萝卜仍然在生长。
The man thought it must be time at last to pull the turnip,
but it just stuck fast.
"Come and help heave!" called the man to his wife.
老爷爷觉得是时候把这只巨大的萝卜拔出来了。
但是萝卜却卡住了。
“快过来帮忙把萝卜拔出来啊！”
老爷爷对妻子喊道。
The man pulled the turnip and the wife pulled the man.
But the ENORMOUS turnip just wouldn't budge!
老爷爷拔着萝卜，妻子在拔老爷爷。
但是那只巨大的胡萝卜就是一点儿都不动！
"Come and help heave!" called the wife to a boy.
The man pulled the turnip, the wife pulled the man,
the boy pulled the wife.
“快过来帮忙拔萝卜呀！” 妻子冲一个男孩喊道。
老爷爷拔着萝卜，妻子拔着老爷爷，
小男孩拔着老爷爷的妻子。
But the ENORMOUS turnip just wouldn't budge!
但是那只巨大的萝卜呀！就是不动！
"Come and help heave!" called the boy to a girl.
The man pulled the turnip, the wife pulled the man,
the boy pulled the wife, the girl pulled the boy.
“快过来帮忙拔萝卜呀！”
小男孩对一个小女孩喊道。
老爷爷在拔萝卜，妻子在拔老爷爷，
小男孩在拔老爷爷的妻子，小女孩在拔小男孩。
But the ENORMOUS turnip just wouldn't budge!
但是这只巨大的胡萝卜呀！还是不动啊！
"Come and help heave!" called the girl to a dog.
The man pulled the turnip, the wife pulled the man,
the boy pulled the wife, the girl pulled the boy,
the dog pulled the girl.
“快过来帮忙拔萝卜呀！”小女孩对一只小狗喊道。
老爷爷在拔萝卜，妻子在拔老爷爷，
小男孩在拔老爷爷的妻子，小女孩在拔小男孩，
小狗在拔着小女孩。
But the ENORMOUS turnip just wouldn't budge!
但是这只巨大的萝卜呀！就是不动！
"Come and help heave!" called the dog to a cat.
“快过来帮忙拔萝卜呀！”小狗对一只小猫喊道。
The man pulled the turnip, the wife pulled the man, the boy pulled the wife, the girl pulled the boy, the dog pulled the girl, the cat pulled the dog.
But the ENORMOUS turnip just wouldn't budge!
老爷爷在拔萝卜，妻子在拔老爷爷，小男孩在拔老爷爷的妻子，
小女孩在拔小男孩，小狗在拔着小女孩，小猫在拔着小狗。
但是这只巨大的萝卜呀！就是不动！
"Come and help heave!" called the cat to a mouse.
“快过来帮忙拔萝卜呀！” 小猫对一只小老鼠喊道。
The man pulled the turnip, the wife pulled the man,
the boy pulled the wife, the girl pulled the boy,
the dog pulled the girl, the cat pulled the dog,
the mouse pulled the cat and …
老爷爷在拔萝卜，妻子在拔老爷爷，
小男孩在拔老爷爷的妻子，小女孩在拔小男孩，
小狗在拔着小女孩，小猫在拔着小狗，
小老鼠在拔小猫……
… the ENORMOUS turnip shot right out with a THUD!
and a THWACK! and a THUMP!
And they all fell back, with a …Bump…
……这只大萝卜发出了一生巨响！砰！
又一声巨响！ 砰！
噗的一声……他们所有人都打着滚儿的摔倒了。
bump…bump!
砰…… 砰！
The turnip is so good that they can't get their fill
and it's just so enormous ,they are eating it still.
这个胡萝卜好吃到停不下来，
还好胡萝卜够大，他们可以一直吃。
